Towamencin – Yard Pool (8 Lanes)

Pools are either 25 meters or 25 yards.  All races are increments of either 25 meters or 25 yards (e.g. 25s, 50s, 100s, or 200s).  There are 3.28 feet in one meter and there are 3.00 feet in one yard; therefore, to compare times between the distance, the elapsed time has to compensate for the different distances (e.g. a 50 meter race (164 feet) is longer than a 50 yard race (150 feet)). 

This comparison utilizes the ratio of feet in one meter compared to the number of feet in one yard:      

Conversion factor = (feet in one meter) /( feet in one yard) which is approximately 1.1

Short course yards to short course meters:

Meter time in seconds = (yard time in seconds) * 1.1

Short course meters to short course yards:

Yard time in seconds = (meter time in seconds) / 1.1
